Alan R. Barbee, CPA

Alan R. Barbee is currently the Managing Principal of Barbee & Associates and has been an associate since 1991 when he began his professional career.

Mr. Barbee has rendered numerous expert opinions in reports, depositions and in court testimony on various issues regarding solvency/insolvency, valuation, damages, collateral diminution and a variety of other general bankruptcy matters. Mr. Barbee has been retained in numerous cases by Bankruptcy Trustee’s in the Southern District of Florida and the Southern District of New York and has also represented secured creditors, creditor committee’s, Debtors and court appointed Receiver’s.

Mr. Barbee’s experience includes specialized accounting and management duties including, temporary management of chapter 11 properties and business operations, evaluation of internal control structures, viability of business operations and forecasting and budgeting during chapter 11 proceedings, forensic review and reconstruction of books and records, concealed asset identification and asset tracing and preferential and insider payment analyses.

While employed by Barbee & Associates, Mr. Barbee also held position of case administrator for John P. Barbee, Trustee P.A. for several years. In this position, Mr. Barbee created and managed administrative procedures to assure compliance with U.S. Trustee internal control requirements.

Prior to joining Barbee & Associates, Mr. Barbee was a merchandise manager with JC Penney for several years. Mr. Barbee also owned and operated a wholesale automotive accessory distributor.
